Send me a handful of soil so that I may weep over it

Giving people an excuse to play in the mud is one of the best parts of our job.

This week we had the pleasure of guiding rangatahi from Te Whatatau ō Pūtauaki and Te Kura Kaupapa Māori ō Te Orini ki Ngāti Awa on our ancestral land.

In a Māori STEAM
This month we got to try something out that we've always thought would work a treat, makeup made with earth pigments.

Lanae enlisted Ngāi Te Rangi, Te Aupouri, Ngāti Ruanui makeup artist @mssjt_  to see how her soil-based pressed powders, lipsticks

Went for a walk with whānau, which meant for days after we got to spend more time together touching, sorting and testing our hand gathered soil samples.
